Lucas Segovia
Director of Graded Technique Program/Ballet Master in Chief
Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Lucas started dancing at the age of 16 and only three years later joined Ballet Argentino as a Soloist Dancer. He was promoted to Principal Dancer shortly after and was the only dancer, along with ballet star Manuel Legris, to perform a solo piece in Julio Bocca’s farewell performance for over 300,000 people and broadcasted on national TV.
Lucas has been a member of The Washington Ballet, Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company (directed by Christopher Wheeldon and with residency in both New York and London), and The Joffrey Ballet, where in the span of six seasons he performed in virtually their entire repertoire as a soloist or principal dancer.
Lucas has danced works by choreographers like Balanchine, Robbins, Twyla Tharp, Mark Morris, Christopher Wheeldon, Wayne McGregor, Alexei Ratmansky, William Forstyhe, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Justin Peck and Bob Fosse, among many others.
Throughout his career, he has danced in more than 350 cities around the globe, performing in some of the most important venues for dance in the world.
Lucas has been awarded the Premio Clarin, the most prestigious recognition for the Arts in Argentina.
As an educator and coach, Lucas has taught Master Classes throughout the US and in cities such as Hong Kong, Puerto Rico and Amsterdam, among many others. He has coached students to audition in the most rigorous dance programs and Universities across the world with remarkable success in admissions and scholarships.
