Group Dance Classes

Learning dance in a group setting is proven to enhance achievement. Students who are able to observe other students learning have an opportunity to process information and learn more easily. Group dance classes provide positive peer interaction. A group becomes a comfortable place to be and members of the group are likely to motivate each other to achieve more and become better dancers. Students in group dance lessons regularly practice in front of others which reduces the fear of performing in public and is a great transition into private instruction. Students enrolled in group dance lessons at YPAC also perform outside the classroom in our Year End Show held each spring.

If you are looking for additional performance opportunities, please see our P.E.E.R Ensemble or ID Company Information. We offer group dances lessons for ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, tumbling, and acro/flex. Classes are available for all ages and abilities.

Private Lessons

Private dance lessons focus on the individual dancer’s strengths and weaknesses. Private dance lessons are often scheduled in addition to group lessons as a compliment to the regular dance schedule. Dance is a multi-sensory, complex art requiring learning by ear, eye, touch, and intellectual understanding of the body and the mind. Each student combines these elements differently. Private dance lessons proceed at the student’s learning pace, stopping whenever necessary to review concepts, repeat material, or explore a discipline the student shows an interest in.

For more information regarding private dance lessons at YPAC, please call the studio at (630) 553-6433.

Skills Development

For more advanced students, private attention is needed to fine tune technique such as body awareness, placement and coordination, as well as finer points of expression and interpretation. This type of fine-tuning is best in a private lesson setting. Students looking to perform solo work as a dancer are encouraged strongly to register for a private lesson.

Music Class

ID Company

Identify. Develop. Create.

The ID Company is a program designed for the intensive dancer. The Intensive Dancer program is a privilege that dancers and their parents must appreciate and respect. Participation in the program is restricted to dancers who are ready to make achieving their personal best a priority. We encourage dancers to be as dedicated to their academic studies as they are to their dance training. Only a small percentage of the dancers in our I.D. Program will choose to become professional dancers; therefore, the program focuses on educating young people to strive for their personal best in anything they want to accomplish. The audition application must be submitted by August 1 for consideration into this program.
